Lecture on Intellectual Property for students of the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications
On February 12, 2025, a lecture by Yuri Albertovich Bolotov on Fundamentals of Intellectual Property was held at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Communications (AUES). The lecture was organized as part of a series of introductory lectures from Bolotov & Partners, aimed at raising public awareness in the field of intellectual property.
Nowadays intellectual property plays a key role in the development of innovation, science and technology. Knowledge in this area helps future specialists protect their ideas and developments, which is especially important for students of technical specialties, such as energy and communications.
The lecture covered key aspects of intellectual property, such as: patents, utility models, industrial designs, copyright and trademarks. Yuri Albertovich told how to register an intellectual property object, why it is important to protect new ideas and developments and gave examples from his legal practice showing how to protect IP rights.
The lecture gave students not only theoretical knowledge, but also examples from real life. Cases of court proceedings related to protection of IP protection and ways to prevent infringements were discussed.
