New draft of the Kazakh Alphabet in Latin

On February 20th, 2018 the President of Kazakhstan signed changes to the decree on the transfer of the Kazakh alphabet in Latin script and approved a new version of the Kazakh alphabet in Latin. The previous draft of the alphabet with apostrophes caused a lot of controversy among the population and among experts.

Today, draft of the Kazakh alphabet in Latin consists of 32 letters, and does not use apostrophes.

Taking into consideration that the majority of companies, working in Kazakhstan, currently have registered trademarks and slogans in Cyrillic in Kazakh, we strongly recommend our clients and colleagues to take all necessary time-bound measures to register trademarks in Latin.
