In June 2026, the National Institute of Intellectual Property hosted a practical seminar on intellectual property protection. Bolotov & Partners acted as the organizer of this event. The training was attended by more than 30 representatives from legal and customs authorities. The training was aimed at enhancing knowledge in the field of trademark rights protection during customs suspension of goods release, as well as during inspection activities conducted by judicial authorities.
The speakers included our firm’s partner, Zhanat Nurmagambetov, as well as representatives from the Departments of Justice of Almaty and Shymkent, and a representative of the National Institute of Intellectual Property of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the seminar, special attention was paid not only to theory but also to practice: specific cases on suppressing the circulation of counterfeit goods were examined, and an active exchange of experience took place. The participants thoroughly worked through real-life examples of countering counterfeits and discussed complex aspects of law enforcement. Additionally, during the seminars, the participants took part in a business game on conducting inspections against individuals using the third party’s trademarks.
The main purpose of the seminar is interdepartmental cooperation in the field of intellectual property protection. Judicial authorities, within the scope of their powers, can assist customs authorities in cases where counterfeit products are detected during customs clearance.
