On December 2, 2021 lecture on protection of intellectual property was held at Aktobe Regional State University named after K.Zhubanov for students of 2-3-4 years.
Opening his lecture, Yuri Bolotov, Managing Partner of our company said that intellectual property law is one of the youngest branches of law; it is only about 200-250 years old. This branch of law emerged at the end of the 19th century. Despite the fact that it is a fairly young, it covers many aspects of our life today.
It was noted that intellectual property is a set of property and non-property rights. Yuri Bolotov explained in detail the difference between these rights. There was also a brief overview of international conventions governing intellectual property rights.
Special attention was given to well-known trademarks and faked goods.
At the end of the lecture the coordinator of University noted that the lecture was very insightful and would like to see IP law be taught as a separate topic in the academic curriculum. It is envisaged that a separate course would be developed for students.
