Almaty hosted the III International Conference of the Eurasian Assembly of Patent Attorneys (EAPA), which brought together over 200 intellectual property specialists from the CIS, Europe and the United States. During the conference, experts discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on patent practice, issues of judicial expertise, commercialization of developments, and brand protection in the digital environment.
One of the key events of the second day was the section named Problems of Counterfeit Goods Sales on the Internet and Marketplaces in the CIS Countries. Zhanat Nurmagambetov, Partner of our firm made a presentation on the challenges of the spread of counterfeit products on marketplaces.
Zhanat presented a practical analysis of mechanisms for pre-trial blocking of illegal offers on major online platforms, examined the existing problems of law enforcement practice, and proposed measures to harmonize approaches to combating counterfeiting in the EAEU member states.
The conference served as an important platform for exchanging experience and discussing strategic issues in the development of the IP market, including the impact of artificial intelligence, judicial expertise, commercialization of intellectual property, and trademark examination practice.
