An international scientific-practical conference Legal protection of trademarks in the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) was held on March 1, 2023. Yuri Bolotov, Managing Partner of our company participated online in the conference and made a presentation.

The presentation named Issues of trademark protection in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan detailed the specifics of trademark protection disputes in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic and the development of alternative ways of resolving these disputes.

Covering the issue of trademark protection, Yuri Bolotov underlined that recently it has become faster and easier to register trademarks however it is more difficult to protect them.

In relation to the online hearings in the Board of Appeals of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan and in the courts it was noted that there is lack of non-verbal contact, it became difficult to submit and verify documents.

Issues such as contesting the decisions of the Board of Appeals, popular methods of fighting counterfeits, out of court procedures in administrative proceedings, features of judicial protection in relation to trademarks, popular places for detecting counterfeits and much more were discussed.
